Kidney stone ultrasound
Ultrasound is often the first imaging step for suspected renal colic because it avoids radiation and detects obstruction quickly.
Findings that matter
- Hydronephrosis
- Stones within the kidney
- Bladder clues when included
Limits
Mid-ureter stones may be hard to see. Clinical correlation — and sometimes CT — remains important.
Preparation
Full bladder often required for complete urinary tract assessment — follow booking advice.
